A New Home Empty#1PostSubject: A New Home   A New Home EmptyMon Apr 10, 2017 5:36 pm

As Durax sat there, he realized that he’d been daydreaming for quite a while. He had recently stopped at this space station near Whitland, and had decided to stop by a bar to get some food. Sitting there chomping on the slab of meat in front of him (he actually wasn’t quite sure what animal it was from, but a slab of raw meat was a slab of raw meat), he had unintentionally slipped into his memories and completely blanked out. He was trapped in his memories of his old home on Cre’sarak; his family and friends now too gone from his life.

Looking up at the clock on the wall, he was surprised to find that he had spaced out for quite some time; almost two hours. He stared down at his half-consumed slab of meat, and reminisced on how his life had changed so much over the past few months. He Suddenly wasn’t feeling so famished. He paid the bartender and left into the busy station, the chaotic bustle of beings interacting and the loud roar of the crowd speaking enveloping him.

through the crowd, a very tall man was visible, he was wearing a long red cape and seemingly medievally modeled armor with a giant sword strapped to his back, he was accompanied by a significantly smaller elven female who was sitting on his shoulder, but of their armors were designed to look medieval while maintining their futuristic abilities and both had symbols on their armor implying that they were from some sort of faction, and a good one judging by their equipment

As he was walking back to the ship, he experienced some shock from these two. Durax watched as the strange pair made their way among the chaos. It had been quite a while since he had seen such finely crafted armor. Now thinking about it, he hadn’t seen such armor since  he left home (besides his own). Watching the large man and and small elf wander around the crowds, he couldn’t help but be mystified. The giant was surely spectacular; it looked like he could easily crush rocks into dust with his bare hands. However, for some instinctual reason, Durax felt more intimidated by the small elf. As a warrior himself, Durax had learned to pick out dangers using a sort of “sixth sense”. He felt as though the elf was much more dangerous than the man she was sitting on the shoulder of.

Durax realized he had been staring for quite some time, and he blushed. He put his head down, and began trying to follow this new intriguing duo. He tried to be as stealthy as a seven foot tall shiny lizard man could, and wove through the chaotic crowd, keeping a safe distance. These two did not look like people to be messed with.

one thing that was notable right off the bad is that the elf had a hard time sitting still, surely Tower Charlot's armored shoulder may not be the most comfortable sitting place in the galaxy but it was obvious this elf has a very energetic personality and a love for animals too as many of the city birds and critters often came to sit on her shoulder or head. At some point though she looked straight at Durax and waved at him, she was a clever elf and didnt need to much time to notice they were being followed, she leaned in to tell the knight and he briefly looked over his shoulder but seemed to ignore it, he didnt really worry about getting followed around, he was here on vacation anyway. After a while they stopped at a bar and sat down at a table with 3 chairs, the third one was for durex as evident by Sylvia waving again.

Durax almost fell backwards from shock as the elf waved at him. He had actually gotten used to receiving either looks of fear or disgust. There was a childlike charm to the elf that seemed to radiate joy, even the local fauna were attracted toward her general happy air. She reminded Durax of his younger family members at home, even though she was probably several times older from what he could recall about the lifespan of elves. The thought led him to think about his extended family, the ones who hadn’t been targeted. He wondered how they were doing. He wished so much that he could have spoken to them before his departure.

The small elf leaned and whispered something into the ear of her partner. Even in the crowds of the space station, the man stood far above the others. He carried himself with a stoic, yet kind pride, a quality that Durax had seen at home among the barracks where he had trained. The man certainly had the physique of a war hero. The large man, looked toward Durax for a moment, then turned his head back as he continued. The reaction was very appreciated, which surprised the Dragonborn. He supposed that being treated as normal in a galaxy that barely touched his race was a relief. “Well,” Durax muttered under his breath, “At least subtlety isn’t an issue anymore.”

He saw the pair go inside one of the many bars in the space station, and decided to go in. Durax walked in, still a bit curious about the duo. He walked inside, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible. Sometimes, bar patrons hadn’t exactly enjoyed the company of a rare species. The lights slightly intimidated him; he still wasn’t fantastically comfortable with these technologies that had been near strangers until recently.

He looked around, and saw the two, which made Durax crack a smile. Seeing the two sitting next to each other was quite a sight. The man nearly took up half the table with his own bulk, while the small elven girl sat down very daintily, barely taking up any room with her slender and short build. The small elf smiled and waved at Durax, who blushed quite a bit. Despite his noble birth, he had never been fantastic with social situations to begin with, and since leaving home, he hadn’t exactly been the most welcomed person around. Durax began to smile back, the caught himself; draconic teeth weren’t the most welcoming sight. He ended up with a kind of half smile, making an unintentionally awkward, yet humorous look on his face.  He waved as well, walking toward the table.

Once he had finally reached his destination, Durax took out his greatsword and pressed its tip softly into the ground. He then took a knee facing the two, bowed his head, and spoke. “I do apologize to you, fair lady and proud warrior, for following you. I do understand if I’ve caused you to feel any discomfort, and deeply hope you’ll forgive my rudeness. It is not often that I get to see those wearing accessories and armor similar to mine in such a technological galaxy we find ourselves in.” Durax, as trained as a noble, remained in said position until one or both instructed him to be dismissed. Secretly, he blushed with his head down, chiding himself on any mistake he made while introducing himself. He hoped the two wouldn’t notice, as a large reptile-man blushing was usually not a sight people requested to see.

Sylvia smiled kindly at durax when he sat down while the knight was abscentmindedly doing something on a wrist device built in on his armor, it was most likely a pda kind of thing with some sort of game as he seemed quite invested until the small elven hand waved in front of his visor wich made him look at her and then at Durax. His helmet visors were fully animated and reflected his mood, wich currently was set to entertained. The two listened to Durax and looked at eachother with confused expressions, this was because he sounded alot older than he was. Tower went on to reply, he had much more modern dialogue and a thick accent too. "that's fine buddy we've been in worse situations honestly." "though you should probaply avoid tailing people in public, reptile people are a bit of an uncommon sight, to us at least and it caught our- eh my eyes fast." the elf says cheerfully.

Durax sat down, sheathed his greatsword, and cleared his throat, a small puff of smoke coming out of his nose. "Yes, deeply sorry, again," Durax stated, making a small amount of awkward eye contact before looking back down at the table. Durax cursed his own atrocious social skills under his breath. "The last I followed someone, they though I was a Varanus. That was quite a spectacle, I'm sure."

Durax looked at the large man, and had to stifle a laugh. He didn't know why it was so funny to him, but something about how the visor reflected the mood of the wearer was somewhat amusing. Perhaps it was the contrast between the awkward situation and the cheery expression electronically shown on the armor. Durax let out a bit of a laugh, but tried to hide it. He regained his composure, and spoke again, trying to retain his seriousness.

He remembered he hadn't introduced himself yet. "Oh, please do excuse me," Durax politely said "I have yet to introduce myself. It is indeed a pleasure to meet you. My name is Durax Zveldheim, Dragonborn of the seventh metallic household on Cre'sarak." He knew these names probably meant nothing to the two, but this is how he had been taught to introduce himself. He gave a respectful not to the both of them.

Tower almost bursted out in laughter, his immature mind caused him to hear yur anus instead of varanus, though fortunatly he could restrain himself and let out subtle chuckles instead, in response to this Sylvia slapped his helmet, more trying to get his attention rather than actually hurt him, her light elven hand wouldnt do much against the armorclad man anyway. "stop it, oaf! im sorry, my name is Sylvia Roothearth and this is my friend and leader of my faction Tower Charlot, we are both in the immortals wich i am sure you have at least heard the name of by now,, we've been doing heavy lifting recently..."

Durax grinned. The thought of such a large man laughing at a trivial thing... it sort of reminded him of his father. The small elf slapped the big man, and Durax's self control finally broke. He rolled out of his chair and onto the floor, bellowing with laughter. After about a minute, he got off of the floor and sat back down, tears in his eyes from laughing so hard.

"I apologize, I'm sure that wasn't the first thing you wanted to see today. You two just reminded me of my parents back home." Durax looked at them, and realized that this was the first time he had laughed since he had lost his family- about a year. The tears started coming back, this time not from laughing.

"Yes, indeed I have heard of the Immortals," Durax softly said, trying his best not to cry as hard. "Although I've never actually experienced one of you to my knowledge." He looked down at his hand, and found that he was performing another nervous fidget he had picked up back home. He had summoned a small flame  in his hand, and was weaving it between his fingers in an over-under pattern. Currently the flame was a deep blue color. The flame usually did change with Durax's emotions.

The elf smiled at him as he got back up, Tower was indeed considered to be comic relief in the immortals wich to his credit he actually did well, it was arguable whether that was a good thing though. She payed little mind to the flame in his hand however. "that would be possible, we tend to stay in our teritory for military actions but we're expanding and recruiting and the like, so soon you will see more of us."

"... Would you consider you and your comrades to be a sort of... family?" Durax whispered quietly, his eyes beginning to sting. He internally scolded himself for allowing himself to get this close to tears inn the middle of a public area. As the last member of Zveldheim legacy, he could not afford to be weak in the eyes of the common people of the galaxy. Even still, a tear rolled down the Dragonborn's long face. The tear smoldered with firelight, as did the tears of all golden dragonborn, and the light refracted off of his golden scales, casting a somewhat dull and longing light upon the table. Durax caught the tear before it hit the ground, making sure  that it didn't light the wooden floor ablaze.

The elf visually thought over her answer. "uhmmm, we see to it that our troops bond and the immortal legends we are close, like my and tower new eachother for a long time. But it's not really a family but a big firend grou- uh, is somthing wrong?" the elf interupted herself when she saw Durex tearing.

He looked at the two contemplatively. "It's a bit hard to explain in words. I have a better way of describing it, but I would need the permission of both of you in order to do it." Durax certainly wasn't the most powerful magic user in the galaxy, or even on Cre'sarak for that matter. However, he was sure he could pull off the small trick that he had thought of. "I can show you a memory of mine to help your understanding, but it would be terribly rude of me to intrude o an unwilling being, and I'm not sure how long that I can maintain it." Durax took a deep, shaky breath in order to calm himself. "Do I have your permission?"

Durax solemnly nodded, then gently reached out a clawed hand, touching them both on the forehead. He closed his eyes, concentrated, and the world around them went black.

The cool darkness was calming. He had never shared a memory of his this way, but the scholars back on Cre'Sarak used to do it all the time. Durax just hoped that he could maintain the memory for long enough. He had heard back home of a memory meld going wrong and the consequences had been... less than ideal.

The world opened up around them in a flash and the warm breeze hit them. The sprawling dunes of sand rolled around them, and the starry sky showed the entire galaxy in a beautiful array of dazzling light. In front of them, a large city stood up in front of them, and in the middle stood a large palace.

"Welcome, friends, to my memories. This is Cre'sarak, my home." Durax looked at the two standing beside him. They appeared as translucent versions of themselves, as did Durax. "If you ever feel as if you wish to leave my memories, I will understand and end the memory meld."

"Do not be troubled by your current appearance," Durax said, motioning to the ghostly forms of the three of them,"I have not altered your forms or mine. The people here cannot experience your presence, nor can you affect anything within this memory.

"When you are prepared for the experience, please tell me, and if you have any questions feel free to ask them." Durax waited their approval to continue with the memory.
