The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space Empty
The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space Empty#1PostSubject: The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space   The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space EmptyFri Oct 13, 2017 11:29 pm

The rattle of an iron fence sliding by to allow him into the ship bay made the whole ordeal real for Ampelius. For four years, he had been stuck on Thetrhon with the Varley family evading cargo ships and search parties that came searching for him. It wasn't that he didn't like Thetrhon or the Varley family, on the contrary, he was growing fond of the place. He had a chance to learn about his home-people. Of course, it isn't like he had ever been very far from it, but until four years ago, he had never seen it in person. He was always confined to his quarters or to piloting his old cargo ship. Now, all that would change. The Varley family had been generous enough to gift him a black motorbike that had blue neon at the edges. He had named it Sapphire due to these blue neon lights. Furthermore, they gave him many old computer parts, a drone, and a laptop; he had grown rather fond of computers in his time with the Khalari.
The low rumble of Sapphire entering the Ship Bay and a man that had begun speaking to him caused him to lose his train of thought. He didn't mind though. The man that approached him wore all black, formal attire, and had a silver pin on his chest that represented the logo for this spaceport; a picture of a spaceship leaving Thetrhon.
"Arrangements have been made, Sir. Ampelius. You will be transported to Low Thetrhon Orbit to repair the satellite 'Lori Geos' in approximately one hour via the ship 'Ku'rada'. Your motorbike will be kept under safe watch while you are gone. Your team awaits you." With that, the man nodded and motioned for Ampelius to dismount his motorbike. Hesitantly, he complied, and the man rode it into an opening into which Ampelius could not see. The man who approached him looked to be about forty, and Ampelius assumed he was simply a messenger. He trusted them.
The deal of which the man spoke of was simple. Ampelius had not had enough credits to but the ship; he was off by only a small bit. To make up for this loss of credits, Ampelius agreed to go fix a satellite in orbit which had lost communications two days ago. For the last two days, he had been reviewing radio signals, and how satellites generally communicated. In almost an hour, he'd be in space, fixing the broken satellite. It shouldn't be too hard.
The sound of static filled Ampelius's ears before his communicator flicked to life. Audio Only. "Welcome, Ampelius Mümtaz Varley. Proceed to building L-01, on your left. There, you will find a group of four people. These people are your team. Get acquainted." Said a high pitched voice of a woman before the transmission was ended, and he was left with the instructions. Right to work, then.
As instructed, Ampelius proceeded to the building L-01. It was relatively small and made of a dark brown wood. As he was told, there were indeed four people waiting for him. Confidently, he strode through the wooden door. "I was told a team awaited me? I am Ampelius Mümtaz Varley."
"Ah, Ampelius. This is the group. Tero, our helmsman, Idir, our secretary, Orin, our overseer, and me, Kolt, our Chief Engineer. Welcome aboard, Ampelius, our Communications Officer. Are you ready to fix the satellite?" The man named Kolt said. For the next hour, the five got acquainted, and eventually, they were heading toward the spacecraft "Ku'rada" for their launch.
Suffice it to say, Ku'rada was a small ship. No warp drive, and mainly just thrusters and engines. It was transport. Within 10 minutes, the team was in space, and in orbit with the satellite.

OOC: Ampelius is a blue Khalari standing about 6'2 with long hair. His ears are slightly pointed, and he wears a dark tan shirt with black pants.

The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space Empty#2PostSubject: Re: The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space   The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space EmptySun Oct 15, 2017 7:30 pm

"Coming into the system now sir."
"Understood bring up frontal shields to 100%, keep the guns primed just in case."
The three ships that were entering the system were the SNU Halberd Destroyer Broken Promises, SNU Rhino Carrier Equality, and the Jaeger Light Cruiser Once Again. These ships were sent on an exploration and mapping mission and were using their jumps wisely as they needed to have enough to get back to the Scelfor System as well. The ship underwent high G-Forces as it slowed down at an immense rate. The carrier was in the back with the destroyer and light cruiser in the front. The Light Cruiser immediately picked up the satellite and relayed the information back to the Destroyer. It forged ahead into unknown space as it could move faster and map faster. The Destroyer stayed back with the Carrier defending it just in case. A broadcast was sent out to the satellite as well as anyone listening on the planet.
"Please copy if you have the technology. This is the Carrier Equality and we represent the Scelforian Naval Union. We are here for a peace and exploration mission and would like to stay away from hostilities. The Light Cruiser is now coming closer to the planet to map the planetside. Please copy if the technology is available."

The Once Again came close to the satellite and the spaceship that were making repairs. Its sensors quickly scanned over it before pointing planetside and taking pictures and information. As far as the Scenflorians were concerned this was an intelligent race and the precautions were taken. The guns were primed and ready to destroy the satellite in case it was weaponized and the destroyer was on call in case backup was needed. The cruiser was 190 meters long and was not even a mile away from the ship that brought the crew up. However, the scanners did not pick up on the crew members that were in the ship and on the satellite.

The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space Empty#3PostSubject: Re: The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space   The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space EmptySun Oct 15, 2017 9:47 pm

Though he wasn’t fixing the satellite, Ampelius was still fulfilling his contract. He was part of the team, and it was his responsibility to test the functionality of the satellite. Still, though, he’d much rather be physically helping to fix it. He had spent days reviewing radio waves and satellite technology, and only to sit in a chair while everyone else had the interesting job of fixing the satellite. He did, however, understand the importance of a communications officer. Without him, they’d have no way of testing it apart from sending signals from the surface. An unfamiliar voice which now shot through every intercom or communications device within a 50 mile radius on the surface, and spoke through each com system aboard the Ku’rada ripped Ampelius’s attention away from his thoughts.
The transmission itself was relatively short, though he was sure no one had understood it. It had to have come from someone; all the elements of a language were there. Syllables within what he assumed to be words, and a slightly varied pitch as the result of a vocal transmission. Everyone aboard turned to him.
“What the hell was that? Ampelius, where did that transmission come from?” Orin, the supervisor and acting captain of the vessel, inquired hastily.
“I need a second. The encoding on this transmission simply doesn’t make any since at all. We don’t  use this technique of transmission.” Ampelius replied in a state that was much more than slightly confused. Suddenly, the display which helped him organize the transmission’s data faltered for only a second. It was an incoming transmission from the surface.
“Orin, do not initiate contact with the surface. Any communications coming from outside the vessel will disrupt this signal. Our com system can barely detect the transmission trajectory as it is.” Ampelius ordered. Though he wasn’t the commander, he was head of communications. He knew what he was talking about, and everyone else knew he knew what he was talking about. He was trusted.
“You better be damn sure you know what you’re doing, Ampelius. Not answering a government transmission can get you labeled as a traitor.” Warned Orin in a voice that was more than slightly annoyed, and showed the slightest hint of fear.
“I have the transmission’s source, but it isn’t making any since. The protocols are none that I am familiar with. Roughly 5km away, bearing 25. May I suggest we abort this mission and find the source? With all due respect, if this is a war party, we’d be a hell of a lot more helpful gathering data from them.” Ampelius confidently suggested. He had meant what he said. Then, another idea formed in his head. “In all seriousness, what if it is an alien civilization? Remember those theories about Vak, our closest star system? Maybe Forid was right. This may very well be first contact.”
“I’d say he’s right. Take a look out the window. That ship is giant, and there are two more from what I can see.” Interrupted Kolt as he boarded the vessel. Panic filled the eyes of Orin for a slight moment before she regained control of the situation.
“Tero, lay a course for the largest ship at full impulse. Get us there as fast as you can.” Commanded Orin, nervously.
“This is going to be one hell of a report.” Concluded Idir, the secretary, as the small vessel began its course to the large, foreign ship.

OOC: As for the physical appearances of the other crew members, it shouldn’t matter too very much. Here are some short descriptions of them. Tero is a relatively tall and buff red Khalari with small white horns in place of hair. Idir is a Green Khalari of average height with long black hair put into a ponytail. Orin is a Blue Khalari of average height with a crown of brilliant white horns instead of hair. Kolt is a Tan Khalari the color of desert sand who stands average height and has short, styled hair. Ampelius is a tall Blue Khalari with long dark brown hair that goes down to about his shoulders. They all wear a blue shirt and black pants with a pin representing the logo of the spaceport they left from.
The scans would show nothing more than basic sensors, some control displays, and basic means of transportation. As for the satellite, they would reveal that it was connected to the spaceport on the surface, and was not fully operational.

The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space Empty#4PostSubject: Re: The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space   The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space EmptySun Oct 15, 2017 10:53 pm

The smaller light cruiser was waiting in orbit as it gently lofted around the planet. Since now war parties or any enemy ships had been sent out to destroy the small ship it was assumed that they were of a lower technology level. Maybe somewhere around Level 6 or 5 considering they had in fact been in space before. The carrier and destroyer began to make their way closer to the satellite. The destroyers scanners went completely over the small ship approaching them and went right over it as it got closer. However, the carrier picked up the smaller ship and two fighters were detached to examine it. The fighters flew in close together each wing feet from each other. The engines were powered to full as the blue from them blasted into a purple as they went faster towards the smaller ship. Meanwhile, the light cruiser was given orders from the carrier to enter the atmosphere. Its large thrusters blasted as it took in the gravity of this planet.

As the light cruiser entered the planet's atmosphere its guns were primed and ready to fire in case that a surface to air missile was fired. They weren't perfect but considering the technology level of these beings, it was in good faith to have them on anyway. The ship detached its two dropships to the spaceport and the 1 fighter squadron was detached and sent into a near spaceport. The weapons were all active in case of a bad reception and the fighters carried two people both armed with handguns. The light cruiser was too big to fight into the first spaceport and so it stayed docked above it the engines keeping them suspended over it. The bridge crew's scanners were busy as it took in all the readings from the pressure of this planet to the biodiversity that could be picked up from the air. There was civilization and the cities and the spaceport proved that. The people could also be seen but not analyzed from this high up. A detailed map was already being readied on the destroyer from the information that was received from the light cruiser. Not all of it was perfect and some of the detail was missed or a mistake was made on them.

Back on the carrier in the hangar, a meeting party was assembled which consisted of 35 space soldiers as well as the captain of this hangar.  The marines all wore their dark armour as well as the skull faceplate to signify that they were apart of the 3rd Division. They also all had white edges either with blue stripes or no stripes to show their rank. This wasn't a normal diplomatic welcoming party as they were solely there to intimidate and influence. They were also in a loose half circle with the guns slung over their soldiers. They were lounging around but with most sitting and talking.

The fighters were now approaching the smaller ship as they did their own scan to make sure it didn't have weapons that could damage them. When the scans had arrived they realized that this was a communications vessel outfitted with no available weaponry.

The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space Empty#5PostSubject: Re: The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space   The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space EmptyMon Oct 16, 2017 12:07 am

As the crew of five approached the large ship, they thought they had gone unnoticed. That, they discovered, was incorrect. Two ships quickly approached them at speeds that nearly passed their highest speed. Being the communications officer also meant Ampelius was in charge of scanners. He saw them first, as small blips on a small blue LED display. As far as he could tell, they had weapons.
“Orin, two vessels with weapons are approaching at high velocity. I awa-” Orin interrupted Ampelius as he was just beginning his second sentence.
“Send them a transmission. Tell them we are unarmed. Ask them what they want.” He commanded. Though no trouble had happened yet in space, the surface of Thetrhon had become much more chaotic.
“FIRST DEFENSE PROTOCOL: Standby and target the vessel attempting to land.” Ordered the military general Durnham. He had already sent drones to gather data about the ship; drones that flew over it as he spoke, taking pictures and doing scans. “I want a full evacuation of the area surrounding the launch site, ASAP!” He continued. Though he wasn’t sure if they were here to hurt them, or who they were at all, he’d be damned if he weren’t ready for an attack.

The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space Empty#6PostSubject: Re: The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space   The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space EmptyTue Oct 24, 2017 2:41 am

The two fighters had received the transmission and it was relayed back to the carrier. The carrier had tried their best to decipher the language but at that current moment, they did not have the knowledge to know what language it truly was. So they relied on the hope that this species would respond to a peace sign. The two fighters came up beside them. They came by the small windows and the space pilots were visible in their own cockpit. They waved their visors hiding their faces. The one on the right had a red skull on his helmet and the right had a blue sign on his. They both waved as magnetic locks were attached. It was quickly being sped up as it was being dragged to the carrier.

Meanwhile, the two dropships were landing the four landing gears popping out. They landed with a gentle swoosh. On one of the ships were three red lines and on the other three blue lines. The fighters were hovering over before diving down and landing in a maneuver that would induce massive Gs upon the fighters. As they landed three landing gears extended from them. The cockpits each held one pilot so in total there were nine fighters. They all got out their gear being pretty thick. They all looked like common space marines with their helmets and these men and women had a hog on the side of their helmet. The dropships cargo hold extended outward and thirty space marines emblazoned with the hog sign poured out. They were armed with machine guns but the green light was on the front meaning the safety was equipped. But to them, it could mean that they were armed. The captain walked down the line of marines his helmet was a hog with a large machine gun. He had a skirt around his waist with red lines as well as an addition to his helmet. Back on the ship, the drones scanning the ship could see that there were more men and women aboard but they all seemed to be human with a few exceptions where a long-necked figure was seen. Most didn't have weapons but some carried. Along with that, they could scan the engines which seemed to be ion based as well as numerous weapons adorning the front and sides of the ships. Three drones poured out of a launching hole and they in return went down to try and help translate between the two species.

The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space Empty#7PostSubject: Re: The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space   The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space EmptyFri Oct 27, 2017 7:16 pm

Despite the situation they were in, the crew of five stayed calm. Well, four of them, at least. Ampelius had not been trained as the others had, and was beginning to get a bit nervous. The blue khalari’s s scales shivered frantically, which served as proof of this fact. Frequently, he told himself to keep his nerve; it was having minimal effect. After a sharp, deep inhale from the khalari - followed in contrast by a shallow, gentle exhale - Ampelius forced himself to think rationally.
The rest of the ship teemed with activity. Obnoxious notifications and sensors were being activated and filled the ship with sharp, blaring alarms. “Shut it off!” A khalari exclaimed in more of a hiss than words. Soon, the alarms had been disabled. Ampelius found it hard to focus with those alarms and gladly overrode the system to shut them off. Not that he was supposed to, but then again, they weren’t even supposed to be out here!
Thoughts, words, movement, breath... they all ceased when the crew saw the two masks which stared in at them through the cockpit window. These things... aliens... they were not khalari. They moved their hands at their window before a loud metallic bang resonated within the ship. The bang jolted the khalari out of their state of delirium as they turned to face overseer Orin. Without words, they all implied the same question: “What should we do?”  After calming himself down hastily, Orin relayed his thoughts to the group.
“So far, these... aliens... have done nothing to suggest they want to hurt us. They showed their hands, which I will assume was meant to further the notion that they did not want to hurt us. Overall, we have no reason not to trust them. If they wanted us hurt, they probably could’ve destroyed this vessel already. Everybody, I strongly suggest we wait. They seem to be leading us toward that... marvelous... ship of theirs using the device they attached. Notice, we now move at the same speed.” Upon Orin’s conclusion, the ship grew more tense. The logic was not flawed; Orin was correct... but what if he wasn’t. There was much information that was not known. Still, the crew accepted Orin’s suggestion and tried to relax at their stations as they waited. No khalari aboard could deny what they had seen had already been amazing. Giant ships, moving at high velocities. Their curiosity got stronger as they approached the ship. As the pilots filed out of their ship, armed with guns, the crew of the ship could do nothing but wait. This was the moment that they would discover the accuracy of their previous assumption. They could only hope they were correct.
On the surface, however, things were much more tense.
The drone scans showed multiple biosignatures both in and out of the ship, though those on the exterior of the vessel seemed to hold some sort of technology which resembled guns. General Durnham assumed the men outside of the ship were soldiers, and these soldiers seemed to be waiting. Durnham would waste no time sending out a group of 50 armed soldiers on motorbikes. These soldiers wore an array of black or blue with helmets which seemed to have screens attached. They bore scanners and lights on their vests. Leading them was a general of lesser rank. A commander. A messenger. A greeter. They would take roughly 15 minutes to arrive.

The larger carrier awaited the arrival of this ship. The two pilots gracefully pulled the ship closer and closer to its destination as the star twinkled in the background. The first pilot disengaged at the hangar as it flew back out into the depths of space heading towards the planet itself. The other fighter kept engaged and gently tugged them into the large hangar. All around them were ships of varying size. From the fighters that were seen carrying the ship currently all the way to gunships that landed on the planet a short while ago. Approaching the ship came the Hangar captain in his proper white uniform with his medals and ribbons hanging slightly. He sighed as they put the frigate down. The fighter maneuvered expertly as he moved back out of the hangar flashing down towards the surface as well. The Captain nodded and the soldiers put their weapons on their back as they waited for the new species to come forward.

Back on the surface of the planet, the soldiers received the transmission of the bikes approaching. The drones flew back to the ship after scouting out confirming the approach of some sort of military. The man who bore the most stripes stood talking to one of his soldiers as the others lounged around talking as they waited. The ship was not exactly in defense mode either as the guns were still active but not locked on to anything. It seemed as if the soldiers and ship were completely fine with the other people's approach. Now as the began to come near the soldiers were informed and now stood slightly more rigid but still at ease in general.

The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space Empty
The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space Empty#9PostSubject: Re: The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space   The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space EmptyThu Nov 09, 2017 1:01 am

After a short amount of time being carried through space, the ship Ku'rada was put down into what the crew assumed to be a ship bay on the larger ship. A gentle thud resonated through the small ship as the fighters left the larger ship and a member of their same race stood outside the ship of the five Khalari.
"Perhaps, it is an official." Suggested Tero, the small ship's pilot, when he noticed the shining gleam in the alien's attire.
"Perhaps," replied Kolt, the ship's engineer. "It doesn't seem to be hostile."
"A trick, then?" Tero responded. Before anyone else could reply, Ampelius interrupted into the conversation.
"I say, we go greet it." The communications officer suggested. This, as is to be expected, caused quite the uproar with the other crew members.
"What if it isn't friendly? What if it has a weapon? What if-" Idir the secretary, along with most of the other crew members, worried.
"What if... What if... What if! Do you all not understand that it doesn't matter what we do? If it wants us dead, we are as good as dead; do you not see the size of this ship! Oh, and the weapons it must harbor would be enough to destroy an entire city! I say we go. Maybe, it is friendly." Ampelius said in an outburst of logic; albeit, possibly flawed logic. Everyone's scales were on end, and the atmosphere was tense in the ship. The Khalari forced himself to try to stay calm, and continued on. "Maybe it is friendly..."
The crew of the ship grew silent after Ampelius's outburst. His suggestion must be taken into consideration, but how! On one hand, Ampelius was correct; the ship was not meant to fight, and these people seemed to have much more advanced technology than the Khalari. It seemed they could easily take the five, if they wished. Why not try to greet him? Possibilities are not always good judgements on what will happen. When those possibilities are acted upon, they become a risk. Yes it might be nice, but going out into the open unnarmed on the possibility that it may be nice was not a risk Omil wished to take. Then what! They were not to play the role of a sitting duck, they had to do something!
And do something they did. After only moments of discussion, they had their plan.
And so, as the hydraulic door to the small ship opened, not a single Khalari was to be seen from the outside, through normal means.
Meanwhile, on the surface.
As the fleet of fifty armed soldiers on bikes arrived, a cloud of dust was thrown into the air by the way they stopped. It was simultanious, the way they stopped; a drift from each one so that the side of the bikes faced the "enemy" and served as a shield. In front, one khalari stepped forward. From his black vest and dark silver helmet, it was clear to see he was a general. The jet black screen which hid his face seemed inpenatrable to human eyes from the outside, for in fact, it was a screen. A host of scanner results.
But then, the khalari took the silver helmet off, and set it on his bike as he dismounted. He wore his chesnut hair in a ponytail which waved in the wind. As the dust cleared, he raised a small pistol to a man's head.
"And you are?" he asked in an almost curious voice. It was a rhetorical question, and the general gave no chance for an answer before shooting the loaded bullet into the sky, and yelling a command: "State your business!"

The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space Empty#10PostSubject: Re: The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space   The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space EmptyFri Nov 10, 2017 8:29 pm

As the hydraulic door opened and the inside was seen to be empty the Captain sighed and nodded as two privates took a few steps forward raising their rifles to the entrance. Meanwhile, a large juggernaut stepped forward as he climbed the stairs to the hydraulic press. He would barely fit in the door but he did manage. The Captain stood watching as the hangar bridge began to do scans on the ship including, heat, heartbeat, viruses, and weaponry.  The juggernaut stepped inside his large metallic armour having trouble fitting in the small ship. He held a large minigun in one hand and a revolver in the other. His head was hidden by the mask but he did look up and around trying to find any contact with where they could possibly have gone. From the outside came the Captains voice.

"Please do not make this difficult. We are not trying to hurt you we just wish to speak!" His voice was slightly annoyed at this point but still remained calm.

Down on the ground in front of the gunships, the soldiers looked at the fleet of bikers that had no approached. The weapons seemed primitive but still could kill a marine. They held their weapons a little tighter. The man who harbored more stripes than the rest stepped forward to meet the general his own weapon still on his back. When their general shot up almost simultaneously all of the marines guns snapped upwards trained on at least one of the marines. The general had no weapons pointed at him but as our leader stepped forward to greet his two of the marines snapped their weapons to the alien general.

"Well, I can see this race is gun friendly." The superior said this under his breath before speaking out loud.

"Well I can sense that you all have quite a few question on who we are, what we are and why we are here?" He took another step forward coming within arms reach of him.

"I am Captain Blais Varzin of the Scelforian Naval Union. We are mostly human but some of us are Scelforian which your scanners might have picked up. We do have translation bots that and we are here to just examine and identify the type of race your people are. Currently, we have one of your ships aboard our carrier and we would just like to negotiate between our two peoples."

The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space Empty#11PostSubject: Re: The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space   The Khalari Join the Civilizations of Space EmptySun Nov 19, 2017 1:05 am

As the heavily armored entity entered the small vessel, the metal floors almost bent under his weight. The ship was not meant to support him, but alas, it had. This feat was impressive in itself, thought the khalari named Kolt as he pulled the small lever which closed the hydraulic door quickly with a harsh klang and a sound of depressurizing gasses within the walls of the small vessel. As the door closed and was locked by Tero, the juggernaut was met with the sight of Orin, the commander, standing her tallest. She was only as tall as it's chin. In an instant, the crew of five surrounded the armored mass. It was then that Ampelius held up the small box lit with a blue screen. More accurately, a translator. Given, it was meant to translate languages from Thetron; the Khalari could only hope it would work. The Khalari did their best to look as non-hostile as possible.
"Speak." Stated Orin, as she pointed to the small translator which displayed a simple graphic which represented a generic face speaking.
Meanwhile, on the surface.
When the intruding soldiers snapped their weapons to the ready position, Durnham's small force of elites responded at an almost equal speed. Durnham's army kept their guns loaded, and ready to fire. When the intruding commander stepped within arm's reach of Durnham, he slowly put away his pistol as he maintained eye contact with the intruder. After this, he held up his hand, and hive elites advanced and formed a semi-circle around him. He then quickly lowered his hand, and the elites which protected him lowered their weapons. It was clear language would get them nowhere. With a sigh, Durnham pointed at the ship which had landed on his planet.
"Explain." He commanded; a command which was directed in general to the crowd of intruders.

The large juggernaut now surrounded by the five beings was put into threat mode. The guns available were activated and just before he was about to fire he saw the speaking face. Although he knew what they were trying to communicate he turned around. He threw his fist forward into the door. The power behind this punch was immense as he hoped that he could get out. He did not have the tech in his suit to speak but he did know that one of the translation bots outside could. However, after he punched the back of the suit opened and a marine got out. He was around 6'2 and barrel chested. He was taking a huge risk as he stepped out and smiled. He was wearing a small thermal suit underneath but no shoes. He nodded towards all of the figures. He didn't know how else to say this so he tried his best to sketch out something. He did have his holopen on him and in front of him was a smiling face. This was drawn pretty poorly but the message could be read if studied.

On the ground the commander let out a sigh. He motioned with his hand and the soldiers put their weapons down. They seemed to go back to their own conversations but their eyes did still wander to make sure their commander was okay. He took off his mask showing a bald human face. He was olive skinned with multiple scars down his face.

"If you can understand what I am saying..we mean no harm. We do not wish to war with your people. While the guns on the ship are big-"

His hand motions showed this by growing outwards.

"They are not active. We just wish to discuss with your people."

As the Juggernaut punched the door of the small ship, a large dent was what resulted alongside many of the other crew members taking a step back and visibly showing their nervousness. More accurately, all crew members except Orin and Ampelius had stepped back in fear. The reasons the two stood their ground, however, were not the same. Orin, as captain, has to look professional, despite her being more scared than she recalled ever being before. Because she was scared, however, she was almost unable to speak; at least for a small bit. Ampelius was an outlier in the group of five in that he was not nervous very much at all. He had faced tensions much more tense than this on the cargo ship, and though he didn't know this species, he decided to assume they could be trusted. As he stared at the hologram in the air which represented a smiling face, a small sliver of an idea began to form. He needed to communicate with the creatures outside, and as the spark of an idea turned into a metaphorical flame, he knew how he could. After only a moment of hezitation, Ampelius quickly turned and excitedly ran to his small bag by his communications post. As a communicator, he thought it a good idea to bring along a simple Khalarin language book. The other members watched in confusion and apprehension as the Blue Khalari retrieved a small elementary referance guide and a radio communications handbook from hus black sachel and attempted to hand it to the alien as he motioned for him to bring it outside. Tero was the first to catch onto his idea, and quickly opened the ship's door. To his relief, though it took several moments, the door opened. As it opened, the creatures outside would be met with the sight of Ampelius attempting to give the books to the marine, and most of the other crew members confused or angry at Ampelius. Despite this anger however, the crew remained their attempt to look peaceful. Orin stook he ground with the translator still outstretched still trying to understand what her crew member had just done.
Meanwhile, on the surface.
Durnham had his linguistic specialist at base begin to analyze the recordings that his helmet had begun taking as he took it off. It had recorded the whole exchange, and there was just enough data to infer basic sentance structure. At this time, Durnham had calmed to a reasonable extent as he moved his hand down to his waist, where a soldier had approached him and handed him his helmet, speaking of an incoming call. As the helmet hid his face from the crowd, he recieved the call. It was from headquarters, and notified him that progress had been made with language. It seemed his earlier assumption was incorrect. The following is what was the base's best guess as to what the opposing general had said.
"... you can [understand/know]... I... We... no harm... We... not... guns [are] large... not active."
It was considerable progress, to be sure. The base had managed to guess at simple nouns and a few verbs. Though scrambled, the message was clear to Durnham. The opposing soldiers had been dismissed, no shots had been fired, and who he assumed was the general was trying to communicate. This all led to one conclusion for Durnham:
These people were, for now, no threat.
Quickly, he switched on his video recorder on his helmet, and a dull purple light began to blink near an inset which housed a circular camera. It was this which lit up Durnham's display in his helmet with the now familiar view of the crowd. He quietly requested an upload of the translation progress to his helmet. This was granted and, when finished, he spoke slowly, and clearly with a two second pause in between each carefully cracted word.
"We... mean... no... harm... [.] Who... is... inside... your... ship... [?]"
Though he was still on a military mission, he found himself realizing he had grown, if even just the slightest bit, curious about these people.
Through all this, the staff and visitors in the launch bay had also grown curious. People struggled to fit in small window spaces to see the exchange, and many recorded it. Very soon, it was streamed globally via the world's basic global network system. Within minutes, a global uproar of excitement, fear, anxiousness, and even happiness spread across the globe. This was truly the limit of the global network, but it was able to bear it. For better or for worse. Within the twenty minutes following the release of the stream, roughly 2,000 posts appeared on the global network. They brandished titles which translated roughly to "Alien species arrived and are in orbit... what next?" or "Five officers sent out to space to fix a sattelite... communications have been lost.". Furthermore, more advanced computer scientists would begin using sattelites, usually homemade, to try to pick up any signals from the alien vessels in orbit. The world, in general, was on the edge of it's seat with anticipation. What happened within next few hours would determine the literal fate of Thetrhon.
