Mercenary OpticsType: The STCAOLD is a Texture and color altering device that replicates exterior physical surroundings and projects them on to a layer of gel like material in which the gel is heated up in spots and rises to form a similar appearance of the scanned terrain.
Use: The device is used as a sort of camoflauge without using expensive and demanding Optical Altering software to make them completely invisible.
Rarity: This device is uncommon and mostly only used in Special Operator Units.
Strengths
The STCAOLD is very good for camoflauge, mimicking the behaviors of Octopi. The STCAOLD is adaptable and most small movements can go undetected, but large movements can confuse the device and it ends up shutting itself down.
Weaknesses
The STCAOLD is a very resource demanding implant, when hooked up to the Standard plasteel armor the STCAOLD can be activated for a maximum of 20 minutes before it shuts down due to insufficient energy to continue operation before automatic recharge. When the suit of armor does run out of energy it deactivates the energized plating, which leaves the user somewhat more exposed to attacks. As well as the user can be detected by using thermal imaging and x-ray. It is only invisible to the naked eye.
Description
The STCAOLD is a small implant, about the size of a modern Medium SIM card. Though it is small, it has alot of usability. The card has several sensors in it which read condition of the outside surroundings and project it on the malleable Gel layer. It was first prototyped when the problem of stealth arouse and the use of optic camouflage seemed out of reach.
