Bombs and Missiles way to find names in post Empty
Approved#1PostSubject: Bombs and Missiles way to find names in post   Bombs and Missiles way to find names in post EmptyTue Mar 28, 2017 10:01 pm

Going to have a bunch of different bombs / missles to post here so might have to adjust the layout just a tad to accomodate hope you don't mind the layout change(s)

Name:  Huge number of combinations below is the way to tell the designations.

Bombs:
B- followed by payload and then guidance system.

Missiles:
MP- for man-portable followed by payload and then guidance system.

VE- for vehicle equipped followed by payload and then guidance system.

VM- for vehicle mounted followed by payload and then guidance system.

Payloads:
BB- for bunker buster followed by guidance system.

Inc- for incendiary followed by guidance system.

CLU- for cluster followed by guidance system.

HE- for high explosive followed by guidance system.

SM (color)- for smoke followed by guidance system.

INF- for infiltration followed by guidance system.

AT- for anti-tank followed by guidance system.

GTA-for Ground to Air followed by guidance system.

MTM- for missile to missile followed by guidance system.

Guidance Systems:
LA for laser.

WI for wire.

INF for infrared

GPS for GPS

MAP for map

AC for acustic

RA for radar

So a man-portable high explosive that is wire guided would be MP-HE-WI.

Owner: Dan'l Voxic
Creator: Dan'l Vocix once again

Development Thread: Might have to have a few of them...we'll see

Type: Bombs / Missles
Ammo: yes?
Rarity: Uncommon While recognizing the need for large scale battles at times Dan'l prefers non-lethal or low casualty methods.  This means while he has weapons available he will never have immense stockpiles of them.

BOMBS:

Bunker Buster:  Hardened bomb case that pounds a few feet into the ground before expoding.  The concussion from the blast does the most damage.  Structural damage is what this bomb focuses on.

Incendiary (Napalm): Fire and lots of it.  Napalm is essentially a jellied gasoline that clings to any surface it touches engulfing it in flame.  For rp purposes call it a quarter mile in diameter from POI (point of impact)
.

Cluster: One bomb that explodes in the air releasing a multidude of other smaller munitions.  These munitions are typically high explosive in order to do a maximum amount of potential damage to personel.  However, these weapons are highly effective at ruining airfields as well as standard aircraft need a flat runway not one pockmarked by explosives.  What the hell call this a quarter mile radius as well.

High Explosive:  Your standard anti-personel bomb.  With a metal casing designed to be turned into a nasty life stealing shrapnel with one purpose only, destruction.  The blast itself can kill but it is the shrapnel that does the dirty work flying out to you guessed it .25 mile radius.

Smoke:  Smoke bombs are non-lethal and are typically used for infiltrating or exfiltrating an area.  Hiding exactly what is going on in a given area.  Different types of smokes are available ones that hide sight as well as those that hide heat signatures.  In addition smoke bombs can be tampered with and can be loaded with riot gas turning a harmless smoke bomb into something else.  Smoke bombs come in a variety of colors each color may mean something different to those that use them.  A single smoke bomb produces enough smoke to cover a .25 mile radius area.

Infiltration:  A unique bomb this is one of Dan'l's favorite creations.  Designed to look and fall just like a traditional high explosive bomb it is far from it.  Within the bomb is a specially designed cushion, life support system, and weapons cache.  There is room for one individual per bomb and enough oxygen for the bomb to fall from 50,000 feet.  From the outside the bomb will appear to be a dud until the individual opens it from the inside.  If unable to open the bomb by the time the oxygen runs out the occupant will die.

Guidance Systems:

Laser:  This targeting system is in synch with a laser typically held on the target by a ground unit or by a drone.  It can be used for precise surgical strikes.

Wire:  A very imprecise targeting system it allows the bomber to drop the bomb and then to adjust the bomb in midflight.  The wires attached only allow for a few seconds of adjustment to the initial bomb drop.

GPS:  Not as accurate as a laser system but more so than the wire system.  GPS are drop and forget bombs that have been programmed using mulitiple satelites to triangulate the position of the target.  They can typically get within ten yards of the target.  Sometimes close is good enough.

MISSLES:

Man Portable:  All of these missles are launched from a weapon system that a single man can use.  Single shot they are fired once and then typically discarded as there is no need to carry the excess weight around.  Anti-tank, incendiary, and HE (high explosive) all look similar aside from a different color denoting the type of weapon green for tank, red for inecendiary, and blue for HE.  Complete weapon systems weigh thirty five pounds making them portable but not for prolonged distances without a mode of transportation not involving walking.

Anti-Tank:  An armor piercing missle designed to do maximum damage to armored targets.  This is not limited to tanks as it has seen limited success against structures as well.

Incendiary:  Like the bomb but with a smaller burst radius, 100 feet.

High Explosive:  Like the bomb but with a smaller burst radius, 100 feet.

Ground to Air:  Designed for "slow" moving aircraft these are perfect for targeting dive bombers or helicopters.

Vehicle Equipped:  These are weapons added on to a vehicle giving it something in addition to what it already has.  Different from vehicle mounted.  For instance a tank already has a main cannon but can be equipped with an anti-tank missle pod.  Pods typically hold four missles and can be manually reloaded.

Anti-Tank: Like the man portable however they are larger and more effective.

Ground to Air:  These missiles are identical to the man portable variety however they are fired from a pod allowing for four missles to be fired quickly instead of a single use.

Missle to Missle

Cluster:  Like cluster bombs the warhead dumps out a payload of smaller munitions.  The missle benifits from increased range over the bomb.

Bunker Buster:  Also like the bomb by the same name.

High Explosive:  Like the bomb by the same name radius of .25 miles as well.

Vehicle Mounted:  These are essentially mobile missle launchers of the largest variety.  Vehicles with one sole function to transport and fire a single missle before moving locations.  These missles carry the heaviest payloads and typically have some of the best guidance systems.

Ground to Air:  These missles are larger and more advanced than their counterparts.  They are also able to target aircraft at almost any speed or altitude.  Advanced models also contain multiple guidance systems to fall back on in case one is tricked.  These missles are typically mounted in pairs or even quads.

Missle to Missle:  Once thought to be an impossibility these missles are in fact a reality.  Develped to protect ground troops from incoming attack they have been expanded on tremendously.  Now used by a variety of militaries and for a variety of roles including protecting naval ships from air attack.  These missles are a variety of high explosive with a guidance system triggered by proximity to another missle.  The missle explodes sending huge amounts of shrapnel into the other missle shredding stabilizing fins and / or guidance systems.  Due to the large size of these missles a vehicle can typically only hold / fire one missle.

High Explosive:  Like the bomb by the same name radius of .5 miles though do to the size.

Guidance Systems:

Infrared:  These systems target an increased heat signature are are typcally seen in ground to air missles.

Laser:  This targeting system is in synch with a laser typically held on the target by a ground unit or by a drone.  It can be used for precise surgical strikes.

Wire:  For missles this guidance system is typically only used for vehicle equipped missles.  Allowing for small adustments immedietly after the missle has been fired.

GPS:  Not as accurate as a laser system but more so than the wire system.  GPS are fire and forget missles that have been programmed using mulitiple satelites to triangulate the position of the target.  They can typically get within ten yards of the target.

Map:  Map targeting uses topographical maps to program a destination into the missle.  Depending on the age of the mapping these can be very precise.  As an added bonus these missles typically fly low evading radar on their way to the target.

Acustic:  This guidance system sends out pulses of sound and then listens for the feedback from them to tell it how far away the target is and the size of it.  Typically only useful for short range.

Radar:  Pretty sure this one is self explanatory.  Typically used for aerial targets.

Strengths / Weaknesses

Bombs:

Bunker Buster:
They are made for taking out places that are hard to take out.  Bridges, bunkers, and underground bases.

Ineffective against other targets.
Costly.

Incendiary (Napalm):
Fire is a huge threat to most things.

Indiscriminate.

Cluster:
Small HE munitions are ideal for taking out runways as well as personel.

Worthless against armored vehicles or bunkers.

High Explosive:
Shrapnel damage in a large area is all the strengths this bomb needs.
Lower cost that most other bombs.

Worthless against armored vehicles and most buildings.

Smoke:
Used for hiding troop movements.
Can be loaded with riot gas.

Can obscure hostile units as well as friendly.

Infiltration:
A great way to get somebody in somewhere undetected.

Death.  If the bomb is unable to be unopened in time.

Missles:

Man portable:
Each weapon gives a single soldier a unique advantage.

The added weight isn't something every soldier wants to deal with.

Anti-Tank:
Gives a single foot soldier an opportunity to take out a tank.
Can be used against pillboxes as well.

Back blast can be lethal at close range.
Can give away your position to the enemy.

Incendiary:
Once again fire is a threat to most things on a battlefield.

Back blast can be lethal at close range.
Can give away your position to the enemy.

High Explosive:
Useful for taking out large groups of enemy combatants.  Think exceptionally large grendade.

Back blast can be lethal at close range.
Can give away your position to the enemy.
Have to be careful to use outside of the kill radius.

Ground to Air:
Able to take out helicopters and low flying bombers.

Back blast can be lethal at close range.
Can give away your position to the enemy.

Vehicle Equipped:
Greater range.
Don't have to worry about a bomber being shot down.
Easy to transport great distances.

To be as precise as a "smart bomb" still need somebody on the ground to direct the missle.
Cost is higher than the others.
Vehicles typically have low or now armor due to the weight of the missles.

Ground to Air:
Advanced tracking and fuel systems mean targeting any airborn vehicle is possible.
The amount of explosives is generally more than enough to take out the best built planes.

The amount of fuel a missle can hold while traveling at supersonic speeds means it can run out of fuel before impact.
Nations put massive amounts of funding into countering guidance systems for these missles.

Missle to Missle:
Able to target and destroy incoming missles.

Enemy missles have to be detected before they can be targeted.

High Explosive:
Extremely usefull for clearing out personel.

Not as easy to utilize some of the guidance systems when attempting to target personel.
Mostly useless against any other targets.

Guidance Systems:

Infrared:
Heat guided so anything with a large enough heat signature can be targeted.

All kinds of defenses have been built to counter this syster.  Flares being the primary one.

Laser:
The most precise guidance system of them all.

Need somebody or something to hold the laser beam onto the target so the missile can track it.

Wire:
Low cost and perfect for short range.

Wires only extend a few hundred feet.  Limited accuracy as the wiring allows for steering a missile going over 500 mph.

GPS:
Fire and forget guidance system slightly less accurate than laser guidance.

Need three working satelites in an area to be able to triangulate the target.

Map:
Just a hair less accurate than GPS systems.

Must be prorgammed with up to date mapping information or risk smashing into new structures.

Acustic:
Exremely accurate in short ranges.

Long range is not viable.
Can be confused with enough debris present.

Radar:
Simple and effective.
Cheap.

Old technology that has had countermeasures for centuries.

@SillyRabbit
We don't judge submissions that are labelled "WIP/Work in progress", so no one will have seen this.
If you want it judging please rename the thread to the item's name and a Staff member will reply.

Well, a few other things. Do you have a faction? If not, a single individual can't have a plethora of missile weaponry as only factions can have this kind of weapon construction.

Remember, all of this is very limited because you're on your own. SInce you're not a faction, purcjasing these weapons is only logical. You cannot spam these weapons in combat.

Approved.
